Liverpool fans certainly won’t forget Daniel Agger as he was an important defender for the club under the Rafael Benitez managerial era. The Dane also played for Brendan Rodgers at the start of his managerial career at Anfield. Rodgers was the man appointed to replace Spanish tactician Benitez who won two major trophies at the club.
Daniel Agger joined Liverpool in the middle of the 2005/06 season and he was able to win the FA Cup title with his new team at the end of the season. In the 2006 FA Cup final popularly called the Steven Gerrard final, Liverpool beat West Ham United on penalties after club legend Gerrard scored on the stroke of full-time to force extra time. The Reds came from 3-1 down to the Hammers to take the game to extra time and then penalties.
On the back of his transfer from Brondby, Agger managed five appearances for Liverpool. He didn’t become a regular first team player at Liverpool until his first full season at the club. He was part of the Liverpool squad that lost 2-1 to A.C. Milan during the 2007 Champions League final as the Italians avenged their penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool during the 2005 Champions League final.
Daniel Agger was part of the Liverpool squad that seriously challenged for the Premier League title in 2009 and 2014. During the 2013/14 season,Liverpool led the Premier League table until the final two weeks of theĀ season when they were dislodged by eventual winners Manchester City.He was able to win the 2012 League Cup with Liverpool.
