AUSTRALIA DRAW DENMARK TO SETUP EPIC LAST ROUND OF GAMES

Australia have just played a 1-1 draw against Denmark to set up an epic final round of games at the FIFA 2018 World Cup. Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen scored a stunner early in the fixture to send the Danes on top. However, Mile Jedinak converted a penalty kick with the help of VAR to ensure both sides share the spoils.

This means that Australia still have a chance going into the final round of games. If they get result against Peru, they will have four points and stand a chance to move ahead if France defeat Denmark. The Socceroos missed their chances of burying the game as Daniel Arzani and Matthew Leckie wasted their efforts in the final minutes of the game.

Denmark had started very well with the Premier League star finding the net. Jorgensen did a reverse flick to find Eriksen, who then sent a volley into the back of the net after just seven minutes. The player kept on dictating play as Mark Milligan and Trent Sainsbury struggled against him.

Australia calmed their nerves and kept on growing in confidence against their opponents. Robbie Kruse too many touches upfront paid off as the VAR awarded a penalty in his favour. Yussuf Poulsem was found guilty of a deliberate handball in the box and from thence it was all Jedinak who scored the equalizer.

Skipper Simon Kjaerhad mentioned how Eriksen was important to the team in helping them qualify from the tough group. The player showed why he is highly rated and wanted by several clubs in Europe even though Spurs would continue to keep him.

Kjaer said he missed his central defensive partner in Daniel Agger who retired from the game before the World Cup. However he had Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen to help out. The Danes only just allowed the Aussies to settle too much into the game. Initially the Socceroos preferred counter attacks but they got burnt as Denmark transitioned quickly to get the opening goal. Australia then gradually built up play and they got their chance. They wereable to sustain the pressure until the end of the game.

With the momentum changing in the group, Denmark would need to force a draw against France else it would be hard for them. Australia would go on to face a dejected Peru side so they could get more than the 1-0 Denmark left with to qualify, depending on the France vs. Denmark result .
