Daniel Agger

I Love Daniel Agger

MANCINI DISMISSES AGGER RUMOURS

Manchester city manager Roberto Mancini has said that the Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has not been on the club’s radar, despite reports linking him with a move for the 27-year-old by the likes of Liverpool fanzine Anfield Roar.

It is thought that Manchester city are interested in bringing a new defender who can play in a back three formation. It is thought that he has lost his patience with the former Everton defender Joleon Lescott after his mistakes last season. He has gone to extreme lengths to playing other defenders in place of Joleon Lescott this season. The Manchester city manager, though, has said that he is not interested in the Danish defender Daniel Agger.

His comments came after the 2-2 draw with Liverpool during the weekend. This was an extremely disappointing result for Roberto Mancini after they came extremely close to losing the match until an error from the defender Martin Skrtel was enough to get his side out of the trouble. Mancini has already stated that his team needs to improve defensively if they are to retain the Premier league title this season. However, they have conceded more than two goals in numerous matches now. Mancini, though, has said that he is likely to sign the Swansea winger Scott Sinclair.

“No, no, no. Agger was never one of our targets. Sinclair? Maybe. But we can say the names all day, all we know is we have five days to do our business. We need to bring players in. How many? Ten, fifteen, maybe?! We have five days and we will work hard for those five days. It was like the penalty we conceded here (in the Carling Cup) last year. It was not a penalty, it was not a free-kick, that is it,” said Mancini. Man city won the Premier league title in impressive fashion last time around.
