Agger Writes Goodbye Letter

A few days ago Daniel Agger made his way out of Liverpool and joined his childhood club Brondby on a 2 year contract but after having spent 9 season performing with the Premier League club; it wasn’t an easy exit for Agger as he wrote a goodbye letter which explained just how much of an impact Liverpool has made in his life not only inside the pitch but outside of it as well.

“Liverpool has been such a big part of my life and my family’s lives for so long that leaving is extremely difficult. I’ll start by saying that Liverpool fans constantly keep surprising me. Since the news broke about the transfer, I have received so many positive messages and well-wishing for the future and not just from supporters in Liverpool but across the world. “My family and I have always felt your backing; it is something unique to this football club, this city and our supporters. It’s been a privilege to have represented this club and I’m forever thankful for everything I have learnt during my time here.

The open letter says: “When I joined this great club, I came here as a 21 year old boy with a lot to learn. Liverpool has helped me grow up and shape me into the man I am today’’

Along with Steven Gerrard, Daniel Agger is another player of Liverpool that throughout the years has received praise and applause from supporters of the English club and fans have displayed their emotions through social media saying messages like: ‘’You will be missed’’ and things of that nature.

Daniel Agger is a qualified tattoo artist and a few years ago he combined the passion of playing football with tattoo and the Danish player wrote on the knuckles in his hand, the letters: ‘’YNWA’’ which is the name of Liverpool’s hugely popular anthem ‘’You’ll Never Walk Alone’’.

Strootman Attracts Attention Despite Injury

As.Roma’s Kevin Strootman sustained an injury during a Serie A match for his club as they locked horns against Napoli in March which forced him to be out of action and unable to play the remainder of the season as well as having to miss out from the 2014 World Cup.

Despite suffering such a heavy injury and being out of form for a significantly long period of time the Dutch midfielder still is attracting the eyes of clubs around Europe and the new coach of Manchester United, Louis van Gaal is believed to be preparing an offer in the region of €25 million for his services.

Kevin Strootman will undergo a rehabilitation program that is scheduled to conclude and have the midfielder fully recovered in December where Manchester United is expected to launch an offer for the player of As.Roma.

While Strootman is a performer who might be seeing his way out of As.Roma, Ashley Cole is one of the latest high profile players who has joined the Italian club after the English defender spent 8 years playing at Stamford Bridge in Chelsea, he opted to finish the last few seasons of his career playing in Italy.

Ashley Cole’s contract with Chelsea expired on June and this allowed As.Roma on swooping in for the veteran defender who arrived as a free agent and will be remaining with his new club for 2 years.

‘’When I heard I had the chance to come to a big club in Italy it was something I wanted to do. Clubs abroad don’t come in for English players as much as people think. I’ve never been out of London so this is a big opportunity for me to try a different language, a different culture and a different way of living’’ Ashley Cole told reporters during his first press conference as a player of As.Roma.

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has stated that the target of the club is to win the Champions league, which is something that they did in 2005. Liverpool are one of the prestigious clubs in this tournament having won it an illustrious five times in their history. However, they have been unable to play in this competition after having failed to finish in the top four for the last four years. The signing of players like Kolo Toure in the summer appears to have worked in favour of Liverpool, as they are currently second in the table with the Christmas fixtures around the corner.

Touré is an experienced player in both Premier league and Champions league after having experienced it with Arsenal and Manchester City. He is confident that Liverpool can qualify for the top four this season, while their target will be to win the competition itself. The Ivory Coast international missed out on the opportunity to lift the trophy when he was at Arsenal, as his team lost in the final to Barcelona in 2006. He is keen to win this trophy for the first time in his career and he has revealed that the move to Liverpool was made with this thought in mind.

“That’s why I came to Liverpool, I knew I would have the chance to play the Champions League again. We have started well in our target to go as far as we can and then try and win this trophy. The Champions League is an amazing tournament to play in, and to be able to play that again with Liverpool will be fantastic. Honestly, for me, I played a final with Arsenal against Barcelona, I was 15 mins from the title,” said Toure.

The defender has been a first-team regular for Brendan Rodgers after having signed on a free transfer.

Barcelona is considered to be one of the best clubs in the world maybe even the best, but if there is a position that they have always been struggling its without doubt in the defensive area. Puyol is suffering from injuries that have kept him unable to play and even when he is fit to play his age is taking a toll on him as he is not the same player he used to be some years ago.
Pique is an unmovable player for Tata Martino but the rest of the defensive positions of the squad are being filled by the youngsters Montoya and Bartra.  The defensive duo have been making consistent performances for Barcelona in La Liga but there is doubt that they can hold their own when the bigger and tougher matches arrive.
This is why the Catalan club has been in search of a defender that can solve some of their problems and Daniel Agger was one of their targets as the Danish defender said that he was tempted to make a move but ultimately rejected the offer.
“I think you are always tempted when stuff like that happens. You would not be human not to be but I keep to my principles’’.

“If I have a contract here for two or three years and the club want me to stay, then I stay with them because, when I signed that deal, that’s what I told them – that I’d be here for four years. I can’t just turn around and say I don’t want to be here anymore. Agger told The Times.
Agger is not a regular player for Brendan Rodgers as he has tough competition of players such as: Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Kolo Toure all being switched out and rotate on a number of matches.

The captain of Denmark’s national team Daniel Agger might be playing his last season his Liverpool if things don’t change. He only played in 2 matches out of Liverpool’s 7 latest Premier League encounters.

Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel seem to be chosen ahead of the 28 years old vice-captain of Liverpool Daniel Agger.

When asked what it would take for him to leave Liverpool, Agger said: “If I don’t play. If the manager doesn’t think I’m good enough that could make me leave Liverpool.

“I’m here to play football, nothing else. So if I don’t play football, then I don’t want to be here.”

Barcelona has targeted Daniel Agger in the past but been denied by the player but his future with the Spanish club is a possibility.

He had to settle for a place in the sidelines ever since making a return from the rib injury he sustained some months ago and completed a full recovery in September. Barcelona’s bid of £15 million was rejected by Liverpool back in August but if he player continues being in the sidelines, it might just be a matter of time until he exits the English club.

“In January I’ll have been at Liverpool for eight years,” added Agger.

“If you count how many central defenders have gone through the system during that period you’ll need to use more than one hand. I’m standing there still’’.

The Spanish giants Barcelona’s top target has been Thiago Silva for some time now but after not being able to sign the Brazilian PSG player, Daniel Agger is becoming more and more as a likely player for the table toppers of La Liga.

After missing out on the signing of Thiago Silva, Barcelona are reportedly looking at Liverpool defender Daniel Agger as a possible signing. The Dane has been linked with a move away from Liverpool for the last 12 months. However, manager Brendan Rodgers has said that he does not expect the 28-year-old to leave the club between now and the end of the transfer window. Liverpool are already on the verge of losing striker Luis Suarez, who recently revealed that he would like to leave the club after just two years.

Suarez has been one of the important players at the club since joining them in a £ 26 million deal back in 2011. However, he has been subjected to interest from Arsenal, who are ready to offer in excess of £ 40 million for the 26-year-old. Barcelona could come in with an offer of around £ 25 million Agger, which would be extremely hard to resist. Manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Agger is someone who has impressed him spectacularly with his loyalty and commitment to the club.

Rodgers has been speaking for the similar style about Suarez for the last few weeks, but striker recently revealed that he wants to leave Liverpool to play in the Champions league.

“This is all about loyalty. He’s obviously a world-class defender. Daniel is very committed to Liverpool; he’s one of the players that have really impressed me. If we’re talking about loyalty, he was one of the first players that I spoke to when I became the manager. At the time, there were a number of big clubs looking to sign Daniel. But he gave me his word that for as long as I wanted him to be at Liverpool, he would be at Liverpool. He has never swayed from that,” said Rodgers.
