Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has said that there is a distinct lack of creativity within the Liverpool side and that they need to improve their creativity in order to challenge for the top four positions this season.
It was initially expected that Liverpool would be challenging for the title this season after spending significant amount of money in the summer. However, a number of draws at home have meant that Liverpool have found it difficult to challenge with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City for the title. Even worse for the Merseyside club is the fact that Tottenham are performing quite brilliantly this season. As a result, they are now the favourites to finish ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal in the fourth position.
This would mean of the season without Champions League football, which is almost unthinkable by Daniel Agger. The Danish defender has said that creativity needs to be improved within the Liverpool team in order for them to get past teams that defend a lot at Anfield. The comments come in the wake of the draw with Blackburn Rovers. Despite being one of the poorest teams in the entire Premier League, Liverpool have found it difficult to get past the team at Anfield.
“When you don’t take your chances, you don’t win football games. Looking at the game against Blackburn, we still created chances so the confidence must still be there. It’s a worry but what can you do? The only way to solve it is to create more chances,” Daniel Agger told the official website of Liverpool. He also said that he thinks that Liverpool are playing to the best in only certain parts of the match, which is also contributing to their poor results at Anfield. He hopes that Liverpool will be much better against lower opposition at Anfield in the future.
